The Bouchon story begins back in 1887 when a young frenchman, Emile Bouchon left France on a ship bound for Chile. Once there, young Mr Bouchon gained employment at a vineyard and eventually, he managed to purchase his own estate in Colchagua Valley. The vineyard grew to become one of the most well regarded vineyards of its time. Today the family have relocated a little further south, to Valle del Maule, south of Santiago where Bouchons grandchild and great grandchildren continue the family tradition. Here they are the custodians of tradition, the surrounding nature and the production of quality wines.
Vinification & Terroir
Block Series Malbec is grown on very sandy, well-drained soil right next to the river Maule. The vineyards enjoy a relatively cool climate as it’s fanned by the cool winds from the Pacific ocean. This makes for a slow growing season, giving the grapes a fine balance and a high natural acidity. The grapes are hand picked and stored for 8 months on old oak.
Block Series Malbec comes from a specific place called Parcel 36 in the vineyard ’Santa Rosa Estate’.
A scent packed with violets and blackberries but also red berries such as sweet cherries. Some floral notes and also som spices and sweet tobacco. The wine is full with mature, rounded tannins.
