Nuits St George Vieilles Vignes
This is a fifth generation wine producer consisting of 8.6 hectares. Its current constellation was formed as late as 1998 through the marriage of Claire Chevillon and Philippe Chezeaux who were both born and bred in Burgundy. When love grew between them they decided to also merge their respective vineyards, both steeped in local history. The couple work with utmost respect for nature; 100% organically – even if this is nothing that’s shown on the label.
Vinification & terroir
The wine is fermented on steel tanks and then matured on oak. The barrels used are very old to prevent the wine from picking up the flavour of the barrel, but retain the elegant tones from the grape (Pinot Noir).
Terroir: Chalk rich soil with some gravel
The vines have an average age of 25 years. The older the vines the higher quality grapes they yield, and 25 years is considered relatively old.
The wine has notes of red cherries and raspberries in elegant style. It has a clear profile and is fresh and light with a mineral finish.
