Sylvaine Bzikot, who owns and operates Domaine Bzikot at the present time, had a handsome grandfather who came to the village of Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy just before the outbreak of World War II. Over the following generations, the family proceeded to acquire 4 hectares of vineyards in the area along with some 9 hectares in Burgundy. Sylvaine took over the vineyard in 1991 and works to create elegance in all her wines. She does this through high quality in the grapes together with careful management of the wines. An important component for Sylvaine is to use new oak barrels restrictively so that the wines do not pick up too much flavor from the barrels.
Vinification & Terroir
The wine matures for 12 months on oak barrels of which only 20% are new. This gives an elegance and ease to the wines with limited taste and aroma from oak barrels where the fruit from the grape takes up more space.
The soil has high levels of lime.
The wine has clear notes of apple and elegant buttery tones and lots of minerality. The wine has a long aftertaste.
