Fournier Père et Fils is a genuine family business with more than 60 hectares of vineyards in Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Menetou-Salon in the Loire valley. These days the domaines Saint Romble in Sancerre, Les Berthiers and Domaine Paul Corneau in Pouilly-Fumé are also a part of the property.
The saga began back in 1950 when Paul Fournier started his business working with his great passion – wine. 20 years later, two of his sons; Claude and Jacques, shouldered the responsibility for the vineyard, and developed it with undiminished love and drive.
The vineyard is run by a passionate team, reknowned for their professionality and specialist knowledge of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
Working out of Verdigny outside Sancerre, the producers’ hyper modern facilities with temperature regulated stainless steel tanks and vacuum presses the house produces classical wines of excellent quality.
The age of the vines varies between 15-40 years.
The respect for nature is of the utmost priority for the family, even though their wines currently do not hold an “organic” label.
Vinification & Terroir
The grapes for this wine are grown in Loire and Poitou, south of the Loire. The terroir is a mixture of gravel, limestone and clay that contributes to the character of this Chenin Blanc. The vinification is classic, the grapes are slowly pressed, clarified and fermented. 10% of the wine is then stored on oak for 6 månader.
Wonderful fruit with notes of melon, peaches and lime. An elegant residual sweetnes well balanced with crispy acidity.
