Kloster Eberbach is the oldest wine producer in Germany; the monks at the monastery planted these vineyards as far back in time as 1136 AD. The particular vineyard that produced the grapes for this specific wine is called Steinberger, and it’s been a part of Kloster Eberbach for 800 years. Steinberger produces grapes that makes wines that range from extremely dry and elegant to semi sweet as well as extremely sweet. Riesling is the only grape in the world that has this range!
Vinification & Terroir
The wine is fermented and matured in steel tanks for 11 months before being bottled.
Terroir: Slate with some clay at the bottom of the vineyard.
Completely dry. The wine has a deep scent and flavour of lemon and apple. Clear notes of lemon- and lime zest and hints of ripe apples.
