History
This is Germany’s oldest wine producer. Monks were growing vines here already in 1136. All grapes used in the making of this wine come from a vineyard called Steinberger, owned by Kloster Eberbach for 800 years. This vineyard is producing wines ranging from completely dry to very sweet using iesling grapes, and Riesling is the only grape variety that can be used this widely.
Wine production and terroir
The wine is fermented in steel barrels and is then aged in the barrels for 11 months before being bottled.
Terroir: Slate and clay
