History
Alberto Antonini is unknown for many despite having been nominated as one of the world’s top 5 winemakers by the magazine Decanter. Mr. Antonini’s aim is to make wines that reflect the origin of the grapes rather than, as is the case for many winemakers, giving the wines a personal touch and he claims to have failed if his wines reflect him as a winemaker rather than the grapes. Mr. Antonini’s wines are clean and focused with great energy.
Wine production and terroir
The maceration takes place in concrete tanks with natural yeast for 10 days. The wine is then matured for 20 months in oak barrels.
Terroir: Limestone with white seashells and a high level of iron in the soil.
Flavour profile
The wine has matured in the bottle in an interesting way. It has notes of ripe black and red cherries as well as chocolate, tobacco and leather that have developped in the bottle.
