Prinsi was founded in the 1940’s by the Lequio family. Daniele is the third generation of the family and has run the production for 20 years. Prinsi has 25 hectares of vineyards, mostly located around Barbaresco. Arneis is an old grape variety from Piedmont, probably originating from Roero in the 1430s.
Wine production and terroir
As soon as the grapes are picked, they are taken to the cellar where a short maceration takes place at 10°C for 48 hours. The wine is then fermented at a low temperature in order to keep the aromas of the Arneis grapes. Battonage is performed three times a week, bringing more body to the wine and creating balance in the acidity. The wine is matured for 4 months in steel tanks on the lees.
This is a nuanced wine with tones of citrus, white flowers, peach, apricot, green apple and herbs. The flavours are well balances with fresh acidity, an elegant richness and exotic fruits.
