History
Back in 1984 Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti purchased the land that would later become Tua Rita – one of the most famous vineyards in Italy. The couple planted international grape varieties, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot but the choice of other grapes were more or less random after a big party where the attendees were able to freely request which grape varieties should be planted. This is why you are still able to find Gewurztraminer and Riesling in the Tua Rita vineyards. Tua Rita has over the years and through meticulous work achieved cult status.
Vinification & Terroir
The grapes are hand picked and delivered to the sorting tables in small crates. After careful pressing the raw juice is transferred to wooden barrels for fermentation. After this the wine is poured onto small oak casks where the malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine is then stored.
The terroir consists of mainly pink marl.
Flavour profile
Here we have a flavoursome and concentrated wine with delectable notes of blackberries, walnuts and a light hint of hazelnut from the barrels. Polished tannins, a clean finish with a fruity and spicy finale.
