Joël Delaunay is a property owned by Marie and Thierry Delaunay, the 5th generation of the Delaunay family. They own 27 hectares of vines in Touraine, in the heart of the Loire valley. The vineyards are kept with as little pesticides as possible and some of the wines are certified as biodynamic. The wines are easy to pair with food and make beautiful combinations with a variety of dishes.
Winemaking and terroir
The grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is then fermented in stainless steel barrels. They are rested on the lees for three months prior to bottling.
TERROIR: The soil consists of flinty clay called “Perruches” which dominates the slopes and “Bournais” (with a higher clay concentration) that dominates on the plateau. The climate is balanced by cool atlantic winds that sweep through the vineyard. Delaunay grows mainly Sauvignon Blanc which is the signature grape in the Touraine-appellation.
The wine has clear notes of apple, lemon, elderflower and nettles along with a pleasant minerality and fresh acidity which makes the wine seem fresh dispite a clear fullness.
Here we have a classicaly structured Sauvignon Blanc from Touraine. The aroma is elegant and balanced without being too aromatic. Flavourful, complex body that is excellent with fish, salads and goats cheese.
100% Sauvignon Blanc
