Weingut Kracher – Beerenauslese Cuvée

History
At Lake Neusidler’s lake in the village of Illmitz on the border with Hungary we find a world star on sky of  sweet wines. Here, Alois Kracher, who was the father of the current winemaker Gerhard, created a new style of sweet wines, which in their entirety are based on finesse and where acid and sweetness are always in balance. Alois Kracher was also one of the main drivers of the great breakthrough for Austrian wines on the world stage in the 1990s. Unfortunately he passed away too early; as soon as in 2007, which meant Gerhard Kracher had to assume responsibility for the Kracher wine production.

Winemaking and terroir

Selected grapes are picked by hand and pressed gently. The wine matures with 80% on steel tanks and 20% on old French oak barrels for 16 months. The soil consists mostly of lime-rich clay.

Flavour profile

Flavors of ripe yellow fruits with aromas of pineapple, apricot, honey and mango as well as hints of vanilla. The finish is long with high fresh acidity that balances the sweetness beautifully.
