History
Gerhard Kracher, who took over after his father, now runs the business with his wife, Yvonne.
Located in the Seewinkel area of Austria’s Burgenland, Kracher is world famous for its fantastic sweet wines such as Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese. However, they also make a small amount of high quality dry white and red wines, with the Zweigelt Trocken being one of the gems.
Winemaking and terroir
The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and then stored in oak barrels (“Barriquer”) for 24 months.
The soil consists mostly of lime-rich clay.
Flavour profile
The bouquet is very similar to the Rhône Valley, there are dark and red berries in combination with herbs and tobacco. Full fruity flavor with subtle flavor of herbs and spices, fine aromas of dark berries, plum compote and ripe cherries in the finish.
